MAY 2013 MONTHLY NOTES
Since the weather is suppose to be getting warm soon (we hope), the One Mountain Foundation will be holding its first outdoor activity for the year. The 2nd Annual Children's Fishing Rodeo will be conducted on Sunday, May 19th at Lake Royer from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Check in will start at 8:00 a.m. at the pavilion adjacent to Lakeside Hall on Lake Royer. It will be a an educational and fun filled fishing event for children ages 5 – 12.
The rodeo will consist of three stations – one being an educational presentation from the MD Department of Natural Resources on fish habitat and identification and proper catch and release techniques; two being a hands-on session on casting; and three being actual fishing in the lake. Advanced registration is being held on May 4, 11, and 18, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the small pavilion on the southeast corner of Lake Royer. The registration fee is $5.00. Registration forms will be available at the advanced registration or may be obtained on the One Mountain Foundation website or by sending a request via email to info@onemountainfoundation.org. Only a total of 100 children will be allowed to enter the rodeo. Advance registration is highly encouraged.
The Scholarship Committee met and selected an outstanding seniors from Fairfield Area, Catoctin, Smithsburg, and Waynesboro Area High Schools who will each receive an $1,000.00 scholarship at their respective awards assembly. 18 high school seniors applied for this year's scholarship.
A new activity is being added to the list for 2013. A Gathering of the Arts at Lake Royer show at the beautiful setting of Lakeside Hall on Lake Royer is being planned for September Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The show will feature two and three dimensional juried art. Artists interested in joining the show are encouraged to complete and send an application for consideration. The application can be obtained from the One Mountain Foundation's website at www.onemountainfoundation.org/2013events, or by calling Alice Humphrey at 717-794-5121, or via email to info@onemountainfoundation.org. Applications must be postmarked by August 1, 2013. Early applications are strongly urged. Booth space is 8-ft wide x6-ft deep. Further details are on the application form.
An OMF Board of Director's meeting will be held on Monday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bob Davis Room at the Fort Ritchie Community Center. All meetings are open to the public, and especially open to the Foundation's membership. Please consider coming to the meeting and help plan the Foundation's 2013 activities. We are in the final detailed planning for this year's Mountaintop Heritage Day, June 29th and desire your input.
Please consider investing some of your time in the planning of some of the Foundation's activities.

To actively promote and support educational programs, historical preservation, community improvement projects, cultural activities, and special projects that benefit the Mountaintop area.
The OMF will strive to improve the quality of life for all citizens in the four counties, two state areas, encompassing portions of Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland and Adams and Franklin counties in Pennsylvania. Specific communities served are Blue Ridge Summit and Fountaindale in Pennsylvania, and Pen Mar, Cascade and Sabillasville in Maryland. The Internal Revenue Service recognizes the Foundation as a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported by public contributions and bequests.
