JUNE 2013 MONTHLY NOTES

Is the weather hot enough yet? The One Mountain Foundation will be conducting the 8th Annual Mountaintop Heritage Days on June 29. Let's hope that the day is not a scorcher.

The One Mountain Foundation held the 2nd Annual Children's Fishing Rodeo on May 19th at Lake Royer. The weather did not cooperate in that it was cold, wet and foggy for the morning. But the children who participated had a great time, catching lots of fish. So the event was worth being wet and cold!

The Foundation raised and presented four $1,000 scholarships to a very deserving senior at each of the high schools serving our mountaintop - Fairfield Area, Catoctin, Smithsburg, and Waynesboro Area High Schools. All the Foundation members should be proud that our Foundation has been able to assist our area youth in furthering their education. Congratulations to Shelby Hahn of Catoctin High School, Haley Caudell of Smithsburg High School, Christopher Seylor at Waynesboro Area High School, and Kirsten Wagner of Fairfield Area High School.

As mentioned above, the 8th Annual Mountaintop Heritage Days will be held on June 29th. We are only holding activities on Saturday this year due to a lack of participation on Sundays the past two years plus gaining enough volunteers to safely hold a two-day event. Please see the information on the 'OMF 2013 Events' Tab. Volunteers would be greatly appreciated to set-up during the week, support a number of activities on Saturday, and for clean-up on Sunday. Please let Nina or Jeff know when you can volunteer and help.

An OMF Board of Director's meeting will be held on Monday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bob Davis Room at the Fort Ritchie Community Center. All meetings are open to the public, and especially open to the Foundation's membership. Please consider coming to the meeting and help plan the Foundation's 2013 activities. We are in the final detailed planning for this year's Mountaintop Heritage Day, June 29th and desire your input.

Please consider investing some of your time in the planning of some of the Foundation's activities.

ONE MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION

To actively promote and support educational programs, historical preservation, community improvement projects, cultural activities, and special projects that benefit the Mountaintop area.

The OMF will strive to improve the quality of life for all citizens in the four counties, two state areas, encompassing portions of Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland and Adams and Franklin counties in Pennsylvania. Specific communities served are Blue Ridge Summit and Fountaindale in Pennsylvania, and Pen Mar, Cascade and Sabillasville in Maryland. The OMF is a tax-exempt, non-stock organization incorporated in the State of Maryland. The Internal Revenue Service recognizes the Foundation as a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported by public contributions and bequests.
